Iron Man arm designed with Team UnLimbited blueprints goes viral
It’s always amazing to see an arm made from our blueprints featured in the world’s media.
Daniel Grant, a design and technology teacher from Bradfield School in Sheffield used our designs to create an amazing Iron Man arm for 12-year-old, Lewis McCaslin. Daniel contacted us and we were happy to generate the files needed and provide support and advice during the build process. It really is an awesome arm, and it even lights up!
This feel-good story brought some much-needed positivity into everyone’s lives. Reporter, Lloyd Bent from The Star wrote “Mr Grant said: “I wanted to do this because I thought it could be a really positive part of what had been a pretty rubbish year. I thought this was an incredible opportunity to use the equipment we have here in school. It feels great to have been able to bless Lewis with this arm.”
The story was picked up and published on Yahoo, in The Mirror, The Sun and even had a segment on ITV news. Plenty of other outlets mentioned Daniel’s epic work.
Lucy Thornton wrote in The Mirror that Lewis “had been given an NHS limb which he never wore as it can’t move and “weighs a ton.”
One of the reasons Team UnLimbited arms are so popular is because they are lightweight, and are very easy to use and build.
Thornton continues writing that Lewis’s mum said “it’s given him (Lewis) a real boost. He loves it. It’s life-changing.”
We are always thrilled when our arms produce such a wonderful response around the world. Grant made the arm using the school’s 3D printer and it only cost £30 to make.

A big thank you to Daniel for telling the newspapers about this and for making sure Team UnLimbited was mentioned. Keep rocking the arm, Lewis!
