We've 3D printed 1,100+ face shields and protective devices
Over the last couple of months, the wider 3D printing community has come together, developing and sharing innovative designs that anyone with a 3D printer can use to help their local communities.
Here at Team UnLimbited, we proudly rose to the occasion and have provided face shields and surgical mask ear savers to everyone who sent us requests, all for free.
To date, this includes more than 1,100 face shields and 150 ear savers, a number that is still growing. Supplies have gone to GPs, pharmacies, hospitals, carers, community nurses, paramedics, shop workers and others.
A quick note from Team UnLimbited’s co-founder, Stephen Davies: “For the face shields, we used an easy-to-build open source design from 3DVerkstan and we’re happy to advise anyone who’d like to do the same. The instructions are really simple, and the materials are easy to source. We’ve also been printing a device that eases the strain a facemask places on the wearer’s ears, and a helpful tool to remove other equipment without having to touch the item directly.”
And then some thoughts from fellow co-founder, Drew Murray: “The world needs everyone to come together at this time. We’re delighted to play our part in helping to provide essential equipment so the nation can keep running and to protect those who are working tirelessly to keep us all safe.”
Thank you to everyone who has supported us during this effort and welcome to all those who have come across Team UnLimbited for the first time. More information on this can be found in an earlier blog.
